Mobility
Climbing out of bed, rising from a seat, and moving between rooms with or without a cane or walker.
Private home care · Ottawa
A registered physiotherapist comes to your relative's door, checks how they get around, and writes a treatment plan for mobility, strength, balance and flexibility.
Between sessions, a personal support worker (PSW) can keep up the exercises, and a nurse is on call 24/7.
Free in-home assessment. No obligation.

Ottawa In-Home Rehab
The physiotherapist works on the exact movements that have become difficult: rising from a favourite chair, the walk to the bathroom at night, or the steps at the front door.
Integracare is a Canadian home care company founded in 1991. Before any service begins, a Registered Nurse (RN) comes to assess the client and writes the care plan. Physiotherapy appointments sit within it, and the nurse keeps oversight as health needs shift.
Assessment
The physiotherapist checks these 5 abilities and writes the treatment plan from the results. Physiotherapists are regulated health professionals in Ontario.
Climbing out of bed, rising from a seat, and moving between rooms with or without a cane or walker.
The leg and arm power needed for stairs, carrying a laundry basket, or pushing up from the tub.
How far your relative can walk, and how long they can stand at the counter, before needing a rest.
Steadiness while turning around, reaching into a high cupboard, or stepping over a doorway threshold.
How far the shoulders, hips and knees bend and straighten, which affects dressing and reaching for a seatbelt.

Between Sessions
Public therapists usually leave a written home exercise program and expect a family member to run it. Between therapy visits, an Integracare personal support worker (PSW) can take that on, following the therapist's plan.
The physiotherapist sets the program and decides when it changes, and the caregiver's notes record each visit.
That PSW can also help with the rest of the day: meals, light housekeeping, errands, and reminders for medication and fluids. Relatives invited to the Family Room, Integracare's online portal, see the schedule and those notes as soon as they are entered.
Before the First Visit
A few papers and notes give the therapist a clearer picture from the start.
Discharge instructions, surgery notes, or exercise sheets from a recent stay or clinic visit.
The cane, walker or wheelchair in use now, along with any shower chair or grab bar already installed.
The tasks that have slipped, such as the stairs to the bedroom, the bathtub, or getting into a car.
Something concrete to work toward, like walking to the mailbox, standing long enough to cook supper, or a visit to a favourite café.
Names of the family members and PSWs helping with exercises, so the physiotherapist knows who is working alongside your relative.
Credentials
Only members of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario may use the titles Physiotherapist, Physical Therapist or PT. Practising in the province also requires College registration, and each physiotherapist who treats an Integracare client in Ottawa holds it.
The College keeps a Public Register, searchable by name or practice location. It asks patients to look a therapist up before the first appointment, and relatives can do the same for anyone who visits.
Our Team
Kristine McGinn leads the team, with more than 25 years in health care and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
Clients here can receive nursing supervision and care management in English or French. A nurse is on call 24/7 for families and caregivers, and each PSW and physiotherapist is matched to the person they visit.
Book a free in-home assessment, and a Registered Nurse will help you decide how often a physiotherapist and a PSW should visit.
Local Resources
Other organizations run these programs. Each sets its own rules, and Integracare is separate from all of them.
Ontario funds physiotherapy at government-funded clinics and, for people 65 or older who cannot get out, through Ontario Health atHome, where a care coordinator decides the services. In the Champlain area, which includes Ottawa, Ontario Health atHome takes calls at 1-800-538-0520 (toll-free) or 613-745-5525.
Before You Book
Not for Integracare. Call (613) 212-7567 or request a free assessment, and our team arranges the physiotherapist. If a doctor or surgeon has given exercises or precautions, share them at the first visit.
Integracare's physiotherapy is paid privately or through a benefit plan that covers it.
Between sessions, a PSW can take your relative through the exercises the physiotherapist prescribed. The physiotherapist designs the program and decides any change to it.
Yes, when the plan includes physiotherapy. Benefit plans differ, so check what yours covers before booking.
Yes. Nursing supervision and care management in Ottawa can run in French whenever the family prefers it.
A Registered Nurse comes to your relative's home, reviews health needs and goals, and writes the care plan, including how physiotherapy and PSW visits fit together. The nurse keeps oversight of it from then on.
