Figures as of August 31, 2026, the latest the province has published. They are calculated by the Ministry of Long-Term Care from data provided by Ontario Health, and we copy them from the Government of Ontario long-term care home finder, opens in a new tab. We check for new figures every week.
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
Reading the Peel Lists
Several of the longest lists in Peel are at the homes the Region of Peel runs. Peel's homes are spread across three cities, so a home a short drive away in the next city can be a practical choice if it has a shorter list.
To apply, call Ontario Health atHome at 310-2222 (no area code needed). A care coordinator assesses whether your loved one is eligible and helps you choose up to five homes.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions About Long-Term Care in Peel
Can we choose homes in Mississauga and Brampton?
Yes. You can choose up to five homes anywhere in Ontario, so a mix of homes across Peel is common.
How long is the wait for long-term care in Mississauga?
The province does not publish a wait in days for each home. The list on this page shows how many people are waiting for each home, which is the best guide to how competitive a home is.
Can our parent get care at home while on the list?
Yes. Private home care keeps your loved one at home with support while they wait, and it does not affect their place on any list.
Support at Home While You Wait
Our Mississauga office arranges private care for families across Peel and Halton, around the hours Ontario Health atHome provides. A free in-home assessment is the first step.
